Why Alloy

The founder of Alloy Financial Services is Scott Smith. Smith is the most common surname in English and variants of surnames associated with blacksmiths or metal workers are among the most common surnames in many languages (Schmidt in German, Smit in Dutch, Herrero/Herrera in Spanish, Lefebvre in French, Ferrari in Italian, etc.) Smiths were skilled craftsmen who created a wide variety of tools, weapons, and ornamental or religious items critical for society. The surname has survived for centuries because metalworking occupations have always been essential for the development and advancement of a community.

Over centuries, metal workers discovered the benefits and uses of alloys. Alloys are mixtures of two or more elements, at least one of which is a metal, that are combined to improve or modify the properties of the base metal. Alloys are beneficial because they often have unique properties that make them well-suited for specific applications. For example, steel is stronger and more durable than pure iron, and aluminum alloys are lighter and more corrosion-resistant than pure aluminum.

The name Alloy was chosen for our company because of the transformative impact that the development of alloys by metal workers has had on the world. From the ancient bronze age to modern super alloys found in medical, robotic, aerospace and automotive applications, alloys have enabled the creation of stronger, more durable tools that are essential for the development and advancement of a community.
